Patricia Hidalgo Named BBC’s New Director of Children’s & Education
Patricia Hidalgo, currently senior VP, chief content and creative officer at Turner EMEA and international kids strategy, has been appointed as the BBC’s new director of children’s and education.
Taking up her new post in September, Hidalgo will be responsible for developing and implementing creative and editorial strategies for BBC Children’s services across all platforms, with a focus on the strategic future direction of media consumption and business models. She will also head up CBeebies and CBBC and will lead the BBC’s education department.
Kid-E-Cats Grows Presence in Italy
APC Kids has secured a duo of deals in Italy for CTC Media’s animated preschool hit Kid-E-Cats.
Following the success of the first two seasons on Cartoonito, the channel signed a new free-to-air deal for Kid-E-Cats season three. Meanwhile, Koch Films picked up home video rights for seasons one and two.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Builds Out LatAm Reach
Konami Cross Media NY has set new deals that increase the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise’s presence in Latin America.
La Panadería Licensing & Marketing has been signed as a sub-agent in Mexico, where the show is now airing on Televisa after the broadcaster acquired the full first season of Yu-Gi-Oh! (49 half-hour episodes). Meanwhile, Citytv Bogotá secured 52 half-hour episodes of the first season of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s.
New Geronimo Stilton Graphic Novel
Atlantyca Entertainment has teamed up with Scholastic for the release of the new Geronimo Stilton graphic novel entitled The Sewer Rat Sink.
The all-new graphic novel features a Geronimo Stilton adventure as interpreted by author, artist and longtime fan Tom Angleberger, based on the story by Elisabetta Dami. The graphic novel is being published by Scholastic, which is also the U.S. publisher for the Geronimo Stilton book series.
